Zofran is a brand name for the prescription anti-nausea drug known as Ondansetron Hydrochloride. The anti-nausea drug was prescribed for morning sickness during pregnancy has been linked to an increased risk of birth defect.

Sadly hundreds of reports of birth defects have already been linked to the popular drug. Studies have found a 30% increased risk of birth defects overall, a doubled risk of “hole in the heart” defects, and even higher rates of cleft palate.

The FDA never approved this drug for morning sickness and (GSK), paid a $3 billion settlement in a civil lawsuit that involved allegations that GSK illegally promoted its Zofran drug to be prescribed to expectant mothers. This settlement did not include payments for injuries suffered due to the use of Zofran.
